Day 7- Heceta Head, Umpqua River, Cape Arago and Cape Blanco Lighthouses

I woke up to hearing a radio walkie talkie of a man talking and beeping noises.  I thought we were busted and going to be towed or get into trouble for sleeping in our car in this neighborhood by the chapel.  hahaha  It's amazing how my brain can quickly go from blissful sleep to panic in a heartbeat.  No, we weren't in trouble nor did we get in trouble.  It was a man out for his morning walk listening to some radio talk show.  But I was awake after that and patiently waiting for my Poppet to wake up.

Today was a full day of lovely beautiful lighthouses.  First we went to the local McD's to potty, change and wash up for the day.  We went back to the Yaquina Head Lighthouse only to find out we still had another hour or 2 to wait until the ranger showed because he called and said he was late.  So sadly, we did not wait for the tour but found out that there is an identical lighthouse further south we could tour so we left to hit the rest of the lighthouses today.  Today is our last day on the coast, sadly.

We got to the Heceta Head Lighthouse before the set time for the tour so we walked around it and took photos.  We found out that the tour doesn't take you inside the lighthouse anyways, so as we had finished looking around, the ranger and tour were walking up to start.  We still decided to continue onward to the next place.  We pulled over along the way to get more stunning shots of this lighthouse from the road a far off.  We found that this particular lighthouse is the most photographed in all of Oregon.

We were off for the Umpqua Lighthouse.  We had just missed a tour so we walked the museum unitl the next tour started, which was perfect because we were meeting Steph, Zach and Amelia here....Steph is Quique's old assistant that recently moved back to Oregon.  We will be staying with them for the last 2 days/nights of our trip.

So, we had the tour with just the 5 of us.  It was awesome.  We asked so many questions and he told us so much more than he normally does on his tours.  It was so fascinating.  We took photos and then we went on our way to the next stop.

Cape Arago was our next lighthouse on the way.  It was super far away and can't see it well in the photos but when we see it online, it looks awesome, we just couldn't get to it as the roads were closed to get there.  So, we were stuck with seeing it from far away.  It is also, no longer an active lighthouse.

After this, we went to eat at a pub with the yummiest looking giant pretzel ever!  Then we had 2 lighthouses left to go and see.  We went to the Coquille River Lighthouse, no longer active.  We walked down the jetty to the end and back but it was sunny and beautiful.  Steph took some photos for us and I got some awesome shots of the beach.  Man, it was just so pretty.

Then our final lighthouse was the Cape Blanco Lighthouse.  This lightouse is charming with a beautiful coast line as well.  We braved the wind and cold to get there and back.

All in all, we saw all of the public lighthouses Oregon has.  There are 2 private ones but we weren't allowed to go see/tour them.  WOW!  What a great accomplishment!  I feel like I'm 10 feet tall for accomplishing such a huge lifetime goal.

After the lighthouse, we followed Zach back to their house that is in Roseburg, Oregon, which is inland.  Man, I got so SO car sick.  Zach was flying around all the super curvy roads thus Quique was keeping up with him.  They did mock me because I wanted to stop so much and take photos along the way.  We past some of the most beautiful sunsetting scenes of the country side.  I got a few barns and farmer fields.  We also past a white covered bridge.  I totally made Quique stop and go back so I could get photos of it.  It was GORGEOUS!!!!

Once we got to Steph and Zach's house, they put Amelia to bed and we just stayed up chatting for a while.  I was super excited to sleep in a bed again!  Hallelujah!!
