I woke up to a magnificent sunrise in the Bahamas. What a way to start the next three days here. WOW!!!!! Of course, I had to wake up Quique so he could enjoy it too, however, he liked sleep better. hahaha
After we got ready we opened up the curtains again and bam! There were tons of COSITAS!!!!! I couldn't wait! hahahaha Then I saw some workers and waved to them. They actually waved back. I was stunned, I didn't think they could see us in those tiny windows. hahaha
We debarked at out time of 9:00am. Got on our bus to go to the Grand Lucyan Hotel. We learned really fast that everyone will ask you for tips for doing their job. If they went above and beyond, that's when we tipped...however, not much. Our bus driver was hilarious. He was telling us about everything we were driving past and cracking jokes. As we passed some churches, he told us all the many churches that were on the island. He said they have everything and started with the 'Mormons'. As we were going, we passes several churches and bars, then he said, 'yes people, we have a church for every bar. The women go to church while the men go to the bar.' Everyone laughed really hard. Anyway, we tipped him, he was great!
We get to the hotel, check our luggage at the spot where they hold it for you until your room is ready. Then we went to go check in. We waited in this huge line. As we were getting closer to the front, Holly came up to us and asked how long we'd been in line for. We said about half an hour but that she could jump in line with us to spare them at least a 2 hour wait. So she went back with her family to be with them and I went and asked it she was jumping in front since we were next and she did. We saw them several more times throughout the day. It was fun.
After we got checked in, we went shopping for cositas!!!! It was awesome! We were looking and deciding for about an hour then we totally changed our minds. We wanted to get the girls these awesome bags that were made from the dried palm leaves, for their church bags. But then we realized how easy they would break and get ruined. So we got better t-shirts, a magnetic bracelet for each of the girls, a hack-y-sack & alligator for Mateo. I was so done looking at cositas. Please, not another cositas place!!!! I was begging to be done. hahaha
We had lunch at 'Zorbas', this great Greek place. They had Greek and Bahamian food. It was delicious and tons of food for regular prices. Quique had fried conch and I tried their grouper fish. It was pretty good. I tried Quique's but didn't like it, too fishy.
We went to the hotel to see if our room was ready. We stood in line for ever and ours was ready, not many peoples were. We grabbed our luggage and went to find our room.
We had a suite! It was spacious and absolutely beautiful. We were suppose to have an ocean view, which we did a bit, but we were on the second floor and all the tree tops were there. We went to see if we could switch and they gave us the same room on the third floor, which was absolutely no ocean view from the tree tops. We we stayed with the second floor room and had our little bit of ocean view.
One whole side of the room was glass and could open up all the way, so we did. We opened it, took a nap- since shopping was so hard-ahahah, woke up and went exploring. We walked down the beach, holding hands, for a long time.....until I had to go potty super bad. hahaha On our way back, we saw a man standing in the water up to his waist, fishing. It was cool. He had caught several. We also saw a stingray swimming near him. It was huge.
We had such a late lunch, we weren't very hungry come dinner time. So we watch some silly TV for a bit. Then we got our bathing suits on and went for a swim. It was dusk and we ended up having the whole place to ourselves. It was amazingly romantic. We went back and forth hoping from hot tub to the infinity pool. The way it lite up at night and how the moon was so bright, it was just such a beautiful moment in time. We didn't want it to end. But we saw some security guards, they never saw us but we didn't know we couldn't be there after dark. hahaha We didn't leave right away though. By the way, the photos don't do it justice but it gives you an idea.
After swimming, we showered and went to find something to eat. It was after 10:00pm on a Thursday. Not much was open there. We found a Domino's, so that's what we had. Then ate it on our bed in the hotel watching more TV. hahahaha That blasted TV. We watched more TV than I have for 3+ weeks. haahhaaha But it was nice. Not being in a rush to do anything. We could do what ever we wanted. No kids, just us. And we did. Quique wanted to watch TV so we did. It was a perfect night. We opened up the glass wall all the way again, and fell asleep listening to the ocean with the curtains blowing in the breeze!
